Low Resistivity Silicon Carbide FAQs
What is the difference between low-resistivity SIC and standard SIC?
Standard SIC is an insulator or semiconductor of heat, low-resistivity SIC has ehanced electrical conductivity due to doping (introducing small amounts of impurities into a material intentionally to modify it's electrical properties).
Is low-resistivity of SIC brittle?
Low-resistivity SIC has a high toughness so it's durable, not brittle, in demanding applications.
After standard ceramic manufacturing, is machining easy?
Yes, due to its ease of machining, low-resistivity ceramics are used in EDM machining, complex geometries are cut with precision.
Is low-resistivity SiC better than traditional EDM materials?
Compared to traditional EDM materials, like graphite or copper, SiC offers higher wear resistance, better thermal stability, and superior electrical conductivity. It is also more durable than graphite.
